Brightworks is a school based on the principle that everything is interesting. We trust that children are instinctual learners, and we value their leadership and partnership in their educational path. The school sets topics for exploration and encourages children to take on projects they are passionate about, while also fostering the development of a multitude of skills. Students are full partners in their own education, and every child is known and understood by their collaborators and the staff. We educate and inspire students in a flexible, mixed-age environment that breaks the traditional walls between school and the community outside the classroom. We offer a learning environment that encourages creative capacity, tenacity, and citizenship.
The world desperately needs voracious, self-directed learners who see tough problems as puzzles. In response, we are making a disruptive new model for education—one that puts the individual child in the in the center of the learning experience. Brightworks students exhibit the engagement and passion that are the antidote to fear and apathy. They’re predisposed to heroic behavior, contributing to a greater good as successful, happy, healthy adults.
Brightworks is an experience-driven learning community that gives kids the tools, thoughts, and experiences that will help them become the best versions of themselves and fosters their development as contributors to society. At Brightworks, we emphasize process over product, implementing project-based learning through the Brightworks Arc to help students think critically, explore deeply, challenge themselves, contribute positively to their world, and learn from their failures and successes. Our core values are persistence, creativity, empathy, scholarship and playfulness.
