Silkscreen For Change - Middle School group project

Silkscreen for Change Project

Through the Fashion Arc, our Opal band of 12-14 year olds have had the opportunity to explore history, geography, art, writing and math. They’ve also developed their ability to work collaboratively, engage in debate, and hone their presentation skills.

Four weeks into the term, students completed mini sewing projects (zipper pouch, button pouch, drawstring bag) and then developed prototypes to pitch for their Pop-Up Shop. Ultimately, they worked to mass-produce, market, and sell 4 designs.

Concurrently, the students created silkscreen designs and exposed screens for a canvas patch mini-project.

Meanwhile, there are a lot of great Tshirt designs coming out of our World Problems Awareness project. From Climate Change to world migration, students worked diligently to figure out how to create compelling designs that also call a viewer to action.

The students in this band have been wonderfully engaged, they have even surprised themselves with the awesome products they’ve produced, and learned how to bring products to market.
